GSC seminar Ditital Cinema
Monday, Dec 03 2007
With great audience response the seminar on “Digital Cinema” was
held on Friday 23Nov07 in Thessaloniki, a joined effort from the 48th
Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Greek Society of Cinematographers
GSC, with the support of IMAGO.
The panel (Milan Krlsjanin–Britain, Giancarlo Falcone–Italy, Nikos
Moutselos –Greece, Peter Englesson–Denmark) more elaborately
cleared up delusions on "Digital Cinema" and "Digital Video", during
shooting and projection but more profoundly during post production,
emphasizing on film scanning, color correction and film recording
as DI (Digital Intermediate) is already an important factor of the
Greek film production.
During the seminar, the Arri D-20 camera was presented and used
to shoot material, prior to the seminar, just outside the Festival's
warehouse 8 (Industry Centre). The material was projected alongside
material from the USA and UK, demonstrating aesthetic qualities, of
this camera, that surpasses by far conventional HD cameras.
The material was projected using a Sony 4K projector clearly
demonstrating pictorial excellence.
The Arri D-20 digital camera was presented in Greece for fist time,
it was a kind support from Arri Media-gb and Calavitis S.A.-gr.
Also during the seminar the Cinevator five was presented.
The advantages of this ingenious machine is that it can deliver 35mm
print film, including both digital and analogue sound and subtitles
directly from digital intermediate or any tape format, in real time,
at 2K resolution.
The presentation of the Cinevator five was a kind support from
Nordisk Film.
